Grab cools down thousands of street workers, delivery riders on Labor Day

The leading superapp provides relief to street workers and delivery riders enduring the summer heat in Quezon City, Cebu City, and Davao City

Thousands of street workers cooled down at the Grab Palamig Spots, enjoying refreshments as they take a much-needed break from the intense heat of the sun. 

In honor of Labor Day, Grab Philippines has cooled down thousands of street workers and other skilled professionals at its Grab Palamig Spots. 

In light of the cautionary heat indices averaging 39°C to 40°C in Metro Manila, Davao, and Cebu, the Grab Palamig Spots were strategically stationed in high-traffic and accessible locations across these regions: Quezon City Memorial Circle, Agdao Public Market, and the SM City Cebu Terminal. The spots served as cold and convenient rest stops for street sweepers, traffic enforcers, delivery riders, and other workers who spend their days under the heat of the sun.

Grab Philippines officially reintroduces its pet-friendly mobility service GrabPet, giving pet parents better access to safe, reliable and convenient transportation as they move about with their beloved furry, feathered, or even scaly companions.

GrabPet, as a specialized on-demand service, is designed to help passengers ferry their pets to various destinations, including veterinary clinics, groomers, pet-friendly cafes, and more with just a tap of a button. Initially available in select areas of Metro Manila, GrabPet-ready driver-partners are all set to onboard dogs, cats, turtles, hamsters, rabbits, and fish on rides.

Grab Philippines reaffirms its commitment to safety amidst rising COVID cases in the Philippines

  • Grab enhances its COVID Assistance Fund by 4X to support vaccinated driver- and delivery-partners who may have contracted COVID and would need to self-isolate;
  • Grab Philippines to mandate COVID testing to unvaccinated drivers- and delivery-partners starting 17 January 2022, and encourages partners who are vaccinated for at least 3 months to get their booster shots from LGUs;
  • Grab Philippines to offer discounted rides for Filipinos going to and from vaccination sites through GrabCar Bayanihan


Amid the surge of COVID cases in the Philippines, Grab -  Southeast Asia’s leading superapp, announces key initiatives as part of its ongoing commitment to providing Filipinos with a safe and reliable platform for their everyday needs while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of driver- and delivery-partners on the platform.

As of January 2022, the Philippines is witnessing a resurgence of COVID cases - breaching the 30,000 mark for new cases per day. The DOH has also declared that there have been reported cases of the more infectious Omicron variant in the country. Grab, National Taskforce on COVID, BCDA launches COVID-19 testing site for driver- and delivery-partners in Metro Manila

Grab - the Philippines' every day everything app, together with the National  Taskforce on COVID and the BCDA, is furthering its commitment on platform safety as it launches its RT-PCR testing site for its driver- and delivery-partners in Metro Manila. Located in Quezon City Memorial Circle, driver- and delivery-partners can avail of the free-of-charge RT-PCR testing starting July 30, 2020.

Grab, Manila provide thousands of livelihood opportunities to help ManileƱos recover from the pandemic

Grab Philippines together with the City government of Manila, has announced its partnership which aims to leverage on Grab’s platform, and provide livelihood opportunities to thousands of Manilenos who have been greatly affected by the pandemic, thus helping them recover from the impacts of the pandemic.

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Grab has launched its GrabBayanihan program with the aim of helping Filipinos respond and recover from the pandemic. While GrabBayanihan has delivered protection and support to Filipinos during the early stages of the pandemic, Grab is again calling on the spirit of bayanihan – this time through local government partners across Metro Manila.  At least 20,000 displaced workers and tricycle drivers, and 5,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are expected to benefit from this socio-economic recovery initiative and will be able to bounce back from the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
