Bear Brand Adult Plus is now proven to help meet the nutritional needs of adults according to a study

A study conducted by the University of the Philippines – College of Home Economics has proven that daily intake of BEAR BRAND Adult Plus helps fill in the micronutrient gaps found among adults!

It is with no doubt that adults, day in and day out, face all kinds of challenges in pursuit of a better life, whether it's for their family or for themselves. From waking up early, commuting to work, powering through the day’s demands, and preparing again for another day—a cycle of doing the same tasks everyday can give them the feeling that they’re not getting anywhere in life. Although one adult’s daily challenge is different from another, there is one factor that is crucial to all adults for everyday progress—their ability to give it their all. But more often than not, they face one serious challenge: Lack of nutrition. This leaves many Filipino adults feeling drained, which keeps them from undertaking new challenges that can improve their lives. To build the strength to try new pursuits and improve personal well-being amidst life’s challenges, it’s necessary to focus on nutritional intake and be proactive in managing one’s health.

Meralco’s nine-month performance showcased massive service improvements

Two years into the coronavirus outbreak, there is no denying that the world has changed. At the onset of the pandemic in 2020, governments all around the world scrambled to find ways to contain the pandemic.

The virus also unleashed a deadly blow to the global economy, disrupting supply chains and forcing businesses to halt operations.

The power industry was not spared from the effects of the pandemic. Industry players had to think quickly and strategically about how to adapt to the new normal.

Power distribution utilities like the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) had to ensure that safeguards are in place so that operations regain stability at the soonest possible time as it put even more important to the health and safety of its customers and employees.

The current situation also underscored the importance of continuous, reliable, sufficient, and cost-competitive electricity supply that is necessary to carry out the efforts to fight COVID-19, to help businesses recover, and to sustain the needs of the people who are working from home.

Meralco Shifting To Eco-friendly Distribution Transformers

The shift will make distribution transformers run more efficiently, operate more safely, and be more eco-friendly.

With their goal for a greener and more sustainable Meralco, the power company will begin to retrofill existing transformers with natural ester oil.

The sweltering heat of recent months took its toll not only on the millions who live and work in Meralco’s sprawling franchise area but on power distribution equipment as well, resulting in some power interruptions during the summer. The sharp surge in consumption of residential customers due to work from home arrangement and community quarantine exacerbated the situation.

Negros Season Of Culture -Cino De Noviembre

Cinco de Noviembre: Homes of the Generals

This was the time, and this was the scene. Philippine independence had earlier been declared on June 12, 1898. It hoped to send ripples down the archipelago.

And it did. On the 5th of November that year, Negrenses took to the streets to claim their inalienable right to self-determination. No other story in the archives of Negros wields greater sway in the evolution of Negrense heritage than this historic fight for independence from Spanish rule, and the consequent establishment of the Cantonal Republic of Negros.

A hundred twenty three years later, Cinco de Noviembre is an annual, province-wide holiday commemorating the brave spirit of Negrenses. And?

Vibal Foundation to Launch Púgot: Head Taking, Ritual Cannibalism, and Human Sacrifice in the Philippines

Vibal Foundation, Inc. (VFI) will be launching Narciso C. Tan's Púgot: Head Taking, Ritual Cannibalism, and Human Sacrifice in the Philippines at VFI’s monthly virtual tertulia this October. Encyclopedic and analytical in its approach, this scholarly book dissects the ritualized forms of violence such as human sacrifice, ritual cannibalism, and head taking in the prehistoric Philippines.

Púgot: Head Taking, Ritual Cannibalism, and Human Sacrifice in the Philippines

Púgot weaves together historical data and archaeological studies with traditional myths, legends, and songs to create a seamless narrative of some of the most misunderstood aspects of Philippine culture and to shed light on deeply rooted cultures of violence.

Preceding the emergence of Islam and Christianity, deeply held religious beliefs led various Philippine communities to sanction ritualized forms of violence: human sacrifice, cannibalism, and head taking. Today, many Filipinos see these practices as “primitive,” “barbaric,” or pertaining only to so-called “tribes” and therefore not related to the national dynamic. Púgot forces Filipino readers to contemplate and confront the not-so-ancient past, when their ancestors sported loincloths, battle gear, and talismans, and participated in violent community-wide celebrations and rituals.
