Holcim pushes for faster blended cement adoption in Philippines

Since 2010, the Philippines has seen increased spending on infrastructure to boost the country’s development. With the incoming government pledging to continue this building drive, the construction sector will remain a major driver in the country’s economic recovery and development. In fact, the Department Trade and Industry’s Philippine Construction Industry Roadmap projects the building industry to potentially contribute up to Php 130 trillion to the economy by 2030 from Php 2.3 trillion in 2018.

Geocycle Philippines looks to strengthen contribution to sustainable waste management

Holcim Philippines held a webinar on the extended producer (EPR) bill for Zero Waste Month in January. The panel featured Senator Cynthia Villar, the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Climate and one of the primary sponsors of an EPR bill. Also in the panel discussion from left are Geocycle New Revenue Streams Manager Alan Cuyno, Geocycle Commercial Manager Riyann Moster, Mondelez Philippines Country Manager for Corporate and Government Affairs Atty. Joseph Roco Fabul, Michikazu Kojima from the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia, and Holcim Philippines Sustainability Manager Stephanie Anne Frogoso.

New facilities in Bulacan strengthens Holcim lead in producing cement with alternative fuels

Executives of Holcim Philippines’ led by President and CEO Horia Adrian (middle) inaugurated on September 30 new facilities that will drive up usage of alternative fuels at its Bulacan plant to improve business and sustainability performance.

Leading building solutions provider Holcim Philippines, Inc. and waste management unit Geocycle inaugurated on September 30 new storage and processing facilities at its Bulacan plant that further strengthens its position as the industry frontrunner in using alternative fuels and raw materials in cement production.

The company completed a new 5,400-square meter-warehouse to house its shredding equipment that converts qualified post-consumer and municipal solid wastes to alternative fuels. The warehouse also keeps the processed materials dry and suitable for feeding at its cement kiln.
