LRMC, GET Philippines launch extended PITX - Makati route for LRT-1 Riders Club

Unlimited free rides from June 15 to 30

Together with Global Electric Transport (GET) Philippines, LRT-1 private operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) announces the launch of the extended Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) – Makati shuttle service route for LRT-1 Riders Club members.

LRT-1 Riders Club is the organization of LRT-1 passengers entitled to different membership benefits, such as unlimited shuttle service rides through the GETPASS App. In March 2022, LRMC and GET officially teamed up for the shuttle service that features the Community Optimized Managed Electric Transport (COMET) – a world-class, air-conditioned, fully electric, and zero-emission minibus with a capacity of 30 passengers and travel range of over 100 kilometers on a single full charge. The pilot implementation saw the electric shuttle service running between LRT-1 EDSA Station and the Manila Bay ASEANA area with designated loading/unloading points along Macapagal Boulevard until PITX. During the free ride period of 30 March to 14 May 2022, the COMET shuttle service was able to serve over 6,000 passengers.

Elevator and escalator industry leader KONE pledges carbon neutrality by 2030

Sets ambitious targets to reduce emissions by 50% from its operations  and 40% from its products and value chain

Taking sustainability to new heights, the global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, KONE pledges to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to reach carbon neutral operations by 2030. 

In its latest Sustainability Report, KONE shares its commitment to a 50% cut in the emission from its operations and a 40% reduction in its products’ materials and lifetime energy use compared to 2018. This is in line with limiting global warming to 1.5°C, which is currently the most ambitious criterion for setting science-based targets.

Home Credit donates 100 computer units to 14 national high schools in Capiz

To enable more Filipino students to benefit from digital mode of learning, the country’s leading consumer finance company Home Credit Philippines (HCPH) has partnered with ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation and the Department of Education - Capiz Division in equipping 14 national high schools with 100 computer units for their blended and distance learning set-ups.

“As the country further progresses towards its digital transformation journey, it has only become more crucial for educational institutions to closely collaborate with organizations for support in upgrading capacities and develop a digitally empowered workforce ready to excel in the emerging digital economy,” shared Susana Ong, HCPH Chief Information Officer.

LRMC taps DOST-PHIVOLCS for LRT-1 resilience and disaster preparedness

LRT-1 private operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) has teamed up with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through its Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) for the Rapid Earthquake Damage Assessment System (REDAS) training among LRT-1 employees and partners. This is part of LRMC’s business continuity management to strengthen the disaster preparedness of LRT-1 operations and surrounding communities through resources, expertise, and facilities sharing.

The REDAS is a software developed by PHIVOLCS in 2002 under a DOST-GIA Project.  The software can simulate earthquake hazards such as ground shaking, liquefaction, landslides, and tsunami. The software can also compute earthquake impact in terms of physical damage, casualties, and economic loss.
