MMDA Launches Its 10-Year Zero Waste Program for a More Sustainable Metro Manila

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) concluded its inaugural Road to Zero Waste Summit 2024 on November 5 to 6 at the Bayanihan Center in Pasig City. The event was a significant milestone in the agency’s ongoing efforts to take the initial step toward a transformative 10-year zero waste program for Metro Manila, protecting the environment, the existing landfills, and the overall well-being of its stakeholders. 

One of the highlights of the summit was the Pledge of Commitment, where MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando S. Artes together with MMDA General Manager Procopio G. Lipana, Vice Chairman of the National Solid Waste Management Commission Commissioner Crispian Lao, and LLDA Acting General Manager Atty. Senando A. Santiago signed the pledge, symbolizing their shared dedication to achieving a zero waste Metro Manila.

BJ Mercantile Inc. celebrates 50 years of innovation and excellence

BJ Mercantile Inc. (BJM) celebrated its 50th year of doing business with a big celebration entitled The Making of a Gold that traced the company’s journey from 1974 as an importer of used engines to its transformation into a diversified conglomerate with interests in automotive, transport, logistics, property, petroleum and power generation. 

Enterprising young couple Jimmy and Belen Lim, who used their initials to name the company, saw an opportunity to start a small business of importing used vehicles and trucks amidst the backdrop of economic strife and political turmoil of the 1970’s . Their instincts proved to be right as not long after they were able to expand their business to the importation and sales of new and used construction and industrial machineries.

OMODA E5 Earns Euro NCAP and ANCAP Five-Star Safety Ratings

Global automotive brand OMODA scores new recognitions of its global automotive engineering DNA after earning back-to-back 5-Star Safety Certifications from the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) and the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) for its electric compact crossover SUV, OMODA E5.

The Euro NCAP tested the safety performance of OMODA E5 and the integrity of its high-voltage battery. Compared to the model’s previous assessment, the Euro NCAP conducted additional frontal offset and oblique pole crash tests to comprehensively evaluate the model’s safety performance. The OMODA E5 scored 87% for Adult Occupant Protection, 88% for Child Occupant Protection, and 88% for Safety Assist.
