How to choose the right one for your pet?

Pet foods in the market today are increasingly becoming more specialized, offering wide array of varieties that are based on the life stage, size, breed, or health condition of the dog or cat. However, the numerous terms and information plastered on the packaging might be overwhelming for a pet parent who is looking for the perfect food for their furry friend.

In an effort to help pet owners make more informed decisions on selecting the best food for their dogs and cats, Pet Food Institute (PFI), shares some tips in deciphering the different components that make up the pet food label. PFI is committed to educating the growing Filipino pet community on responsible pet ownership through its initiative, the Well Fed, Well Nurtured campaign in partnership with the Veterinary Practitioners Association of the Philippines.

Keep your pets hydrated in the scorching heat

Spending the summer in the wild outdoors is a fun and worthwhile activity especially in the company of a furry companion. But when the temperature rises to an alarming rate, the boiling heat can weaken the body and the mind of both people and pets due to dehydration.

Just like us, our furry friends have bodies that consist mostly of water. In fact, pets need more water than we do. Although essential, we people can get a lot of water from the food we consume. This is a different case for pets. Pet foods, especially dry kibble, may contain lower water levels than people food. This variant may best be complimented with wet food or larger rounds of water to ensure that the pet is receiving the sufficient amount of water it needs.

The pitter patter of little paws is coming its way. Your furry friend is looking bigger than usual as she prepares to become a mother. Now that your cat or dog is carrying little ones, your pet needs more attention in preparation for its delivery and to be comfortable throughout her pregnancy.
