Two consecutive months of lower rates for Meralco customers

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) announced another round of rate reduction as it cut its August rates by P0.2087 per kilowatt hour (kWh), equivalent to a decrease of around P42 in the total bill of a residential customer consuming 200 kWh.  Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga said with this adjustment, Meralco’s rates now have a combined reduction of P0.9154 per kWh over the past two months and a net decrease of P0.2315 per kWh since the start of the year. In the Philippines, diabetes is one of the leading causes of mortality. In 2021, diabetes mellitus ranked fifth on the list of causes of death in the country, according to a report released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). This condition is caused by elevated sugar levels in the blood due to insufficient insulin production. If left unchecked, the chronic disease can result in various health complications, which include heart attack, stroke, kidney issues, and diabetic retinopathy. 

The Department of Health (DOH) noted that people prone to having the disease are those who are diabetics’ children, obese, and individuals with hypertension, high levels of cholesterol, and sedentary lifestyles.

LRMC inks partnership with media firm United Neon

LRT-1 private operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) officially sealed partnership with the United Neon Media Group (United Neon) as its exclusive ancillary revenue partner for the advertising platforms of LRT-1 Cavite Extension (Phase 1) stations and its brand-new Generation-4 (Gen-4) trains from 2022 until 2027.

Under the partnership, United Neon will be in charge of commercializing all non-fare box revenues that include station-based advertising, digital advertising, marketing activities, such as but not limited to selling and non-selling activations, street level pillars, railway viaducts and bridges, and Gen-4 train sets.
