Dry eyes disease (DED) is currently emerging as a rapidly spreading but unnoticed epidemic. It is concerning to learn that 1 out of every 5 people in the Philippines is affected by this condition, which is further aggravated by our excessive screen time. The majority of dry eye diseases stem from extended use of electronic devices. Dry eye disease can also result from prolonged exposure to the dry air found in air-conditioned environments. This leads to millions experiencing the three primary symptoms of dry eye disease such as sandy eyes (Magaspang na Mata), burning eyes (Mahapding Mata), and tired eyes (Pagod na Mata).

On its 50th year, MDPPA welcomes 2024 Board of Directors, vows a responsive and sustainable motorcycle industry

The Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association, Inc. (MDPPA), a consortium of leading motorcycle brands, recently entered a new chapter in its efforts to empower motorcycle industry stakeholders  as it welcomed its newest Board of Directors, who reiterated their commitment to promoting global competitiveness and sustainable development for the industry.

Coca-Cola Philippines’ recycling at Panaad sa Negros Festival

After a successful launch in Bacolod, Coca-Cola Philippines and partners celebrated Earth Day by collecting 444.85 kilograms of PET bottles and cans between April 16-21 through the Tindahan Extra Mile (TEM) program during the Panaad sa Negros Festival 2024.

The program empowers sari-sari store owners and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to transform their stores into collection hubs for empty plastic bottles, supporting efforts to curb plastic waste and combat pollution. Micro-retailers earn points for collecting bottles, which can be redeemed for cashback and products for their businesses.

TEM is a collaboration between Coca-Cola Philippines, Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies, Inc. (BEST), and the Philippine Association of Stores and Carinderia Owners (PASCO). As of May, there are over 3,500 TEM members in the country.

A batch of 48 scholars funded by Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI) recently graduated after completing training under the Amazon Web Services (AWS) re/Start program, in the high-growth field of cloud computing.

Late last year, Chevron Philippines Inc., marketer of the Caltex brand of fuel and lubricants, partnered with Edukasyon.ph to launch a program focused on providing digital training for underprivileged youths on cloud computing skills under the AWS re/Start program.

Today, Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, officially inaugurated its updated Cavite Smart Distribution Center, a new benchmark for smart logistics in the Philippines. With an investment of P86.5 million (1.4 million euros), Schneider Electric has expanded and upgraded the facility with state-of-the-art fourth industrial revolution technologies to support growth in the region and across the world driven by the energy transition and digitalization.
